The TeachDrop browser extension

What it is for

Teachers Pay Teachers does not allow other services to read store pages directly. So if you want your own product list inside TeachDrop, the extension reads it in your browser, where you are already signed in, and sends it to your own TeachDrop account. That is its entire purpose.

What it reads, and when

Only the page you are looking at, and only when you click the TeachDrop button. It has no permission to watch your browsing, read other tabs, or run in the background — the extension is asleep until you press it. From the page you are on, it reads what any visitor to your store can see: each product’s title and link, its price and currency, the first 1,000 characters of its description, and its thumbnail image address. This page used to say “titles and links”, which left out the description — and the description is the field that travels furthest, so it was the wrong thing to leave out.

Where that goes

To your TeachDrop account, over an encrypted connection. It is your catalogue, and it is used to match replies to resources you actually sell.

One thing leaves TeachDrop, and this page used to say “nowhere else”. When you ask for a reply draft, the titles and descriptions of your products are sent to Anthropic — reached through OpenRouter — whose model writes the two paragraphs. Nothing else from your store goes: not prices, not images, not links, and never a file you uploaded. If you never ask for a draft, or you switch reply drafting off in your settings, nothing is sent to anyone. Every company your data reaches

You can delete the imported catalogue whenever you like by disconnecting your store, in Settings. That removes the connection and every product it imported; your uploaded resources, your samples, and the store address your samples send teachers to are all left alone.

What it never does

It does not collect your browsing history, your bookmarks, your keystrokes, or anything from pages other than the one you clicked on. It does not read anyone else’s store. It does not post, message, or act on your behalf on any site. It does not sell or share your data, and it is not used for advertising or credit assessment. It contains no analytics or tracking of any kind.

Your account, your control

Removing the extension stops all of it immediately. Disconnecting your store in TeachDrop — the button is in Settings, beside your store connection — deletes the catalogue it imported. If you want everything erased, email privacy@teachdrop.org and we will remove it from our systems.
